Hungry on the road?

Eat well, save money, skip the servo

Put dinner in before you leave camp and pull up to a hot meal. Lunch is a pie you heated on the way, not an overpriced servo stop. Over a long trip, the oven pays for itself in meals you didn't have to buy.

  • ✓Bake, roast and reheat on the move or at camp
  • ✓Cooks while you drive, so food is ready when you stop
  • ✓No gas bottle, no flame, no wind problems, no fire ban worries*
  • ✓Silent and fume-free, so it's safe inside a canopy, cabin or boat

*Always check local fire rules. The Road Chef is electric with no open flame.

More than you'd think

  • ✓Bake: pre-prepared meals, pies, pasties, sausage rolls and desserts. Fits 8 pies at once
  • ✓Roast: small roasts, chicken pieces, potatoes and veg
  • ✓Reheat: leftovers, frozen meals, pizzas and snacks
  • ✓Two removable stainless racks so you can cook on two levels

Tip: preheat for about 30 minutes before cooking. It shortens cooking time, and you can do it while driving.

Built for rough roads

Marine-grade and made to be bolted in

  • ✓Marine-grade stainless steel body that won't rust in salt air
  • ✓Fully insulated outer case and insulated door to keep the heat in
  • ✓Extra-strong door clasp that stays shut on corrugations
  • ✓Two tie-down brackets included to secure it in a canopy, drawer system, caravan or boat
  • ✓Extra-long power cord, and no rear ventilation needed, so it fits tight spaces

Power options

Three plugs included

The Road Chef draws 8.3A (100W) at 12V, so it runs happily from a dual battery system, battery box or lithium setup. It comes with three ways to connect:

  • ✓Fused Anderson plug: the best option, for a solid low-resistance connection
  • ✓Cigarette lighter plug
  • ✓Merit (Hella) plug, common in boats and European vehicles

The thermostat cycles the element once the oven is up to temperature, so real-world use is usually well under 8.3Ah per hour of cooking.

What the tray adds

Why it's worth having the genuine tray

The Road Chef isn't fan forced, so it relies on air moving around the food. The genuine Road Chef baking tray was designed to help that air flow.

  • ✓Air holes down each side let heat from the bottom element rise around your meal
  • ✓Hangs off the top rail with an air gap underneath for even heat
  • ✓Both oven racks still fit underneath, so you don't have to store them elsewhere
  • ✓Moulded 304 stainless steel with front and back tongues for safe, easy removal
